KINSEI golden Shibari jute rope, MAXI-ROLL ~6kg, unprocessed, soft & flexible, medium-wound, JBO-free

ø5 mm, 350 m KINSEI soft golden medium-wound 3-strand 100% Tossa jute rope for Shibari and Kinbaku applications, very low fibre loss, untreated/raw.
Description

NEW to the AMATSUNAWA portfolio!

KINSEI is a very flexible, Z-twist, medium-wound, 3-strand rope made from a stable single-ply jute yarn with very low fibre loss.

Softer than our KIYOMI ropes and slightly firmer than our Mitsuki ropes. It's perfect for beginners and professionals alike. It comes parallel-wound on a practical ø255 × 252 mm flanged pulp cardboard spool.

Available in 3 nominal diameters:

  • ⌀ 6 mm: 290 m, ~6 kg — measured range 5.8–6.3 mm
  • ⌀ 5.5 mm: 320 m, ~6 kg — measured range 5.5–5.8 mm
  • ⌀ 5 mm: 350 m, ~6 kg — measured range 5.1–5.4 mm

KINSEI is handcrafted in small batches by a dedicated team on traditional machinery. Individual spools may therefore differ slightly in lay, twist and measured diameter.

It has 3 perfectly tensioned strands, very low fibre loss and hardly any impurities. There are no prickly fibres that can penetrate the skin. It is ideal for beginners and professionals alike. This rope is low-maintenance, becomes softer and more supple with use, and has a good life span.

Like all our ropes, KINSEI is of course mineral-oil-free (JBO-free), VOT-batched with soybean oil, and has the natural odour of fresh jute and a beautiful golden colour.

KINSEI is very easy to condition. You can find comprehensive conditioning instructions here, and we enclose a flyer with this information with your shipment.

Strand joins — please read before cutting to length
Yarn spools are not infinitely long. In conventional rope-making, changing yarn spools usually means knots inside the strands.

With KINSEI this is handled differently: yarn spools are not changed during strand making. Instead, entire strands are replaced and joined seamlessly — the ends of a strand are laid neatly side by side within the rope. In a typical 1,200-metre three-strand rope, only one strand may carry such a join.

Knots that remain are only those from spinning the yarn itself, and they are very few. That is why KINSEI has so few knots along its length, and why waste when cutting to length is considerably reduced.

These seamless changeover sections must be found and cut out before use. They can cause a critical failure if they remain in a working length. Each changeover section runs about 50 to 100 cm (20–40 in / 1.6–3.3 ft). Please inspect the rope, locate any such sections, and remove them. When we find these sections during quality control, we occasionally remove them, which leaves a cut in the spool. We compensate for this with additional metres of rope on that spool.

KINSEI was developed by us specifically for bondage applications with prolonged skin contact, together with our partner in Bangladesh, and is now permanently available as part of the AMATSUNAWA portfolio.

Intended for floor work, and the ⌀ 6 mm rope for suspension work, at your own risk. As this is the first batch ever made, we have no long-term experience values yet and will update this information as it becomes available.

We are sure that you will appreciate this rope and enjoy using it!

Important information about the product:
Yarn spools are not infinitely long. Each spool of yarn has a beginning and an end, representing joins in the rope made with a knot. We recommend our customers to remove these knots if possible. Please inspect the rope for seamless strand-join sections (approx. 50–100 cm) and remove them before use. Further detailed product safety and usage guidelines for our products can be found here.

250 g / 8.8 oz vegan rope butter for the care and conditioning of natural jute ropes, shiny finish

250 g / 8.8 oz vegan rope butter for the ongoing care and conditioning of jute ropes for bondage, Shibari and Kinbaku. This rope butter is handmade by us following a self-developed and widely tested recipe and is a balanced mixture of Jojoba oil and Mokurō wax. Compared to the traditional rope butter with beeswax, the vegan rope butter gives your rope significantly more shine than the rope butter with beeswax, whose finish is fairly matte. It comes in a practical plastic jar with screw cap lid that contains a generous 250 g / 8.8 oz of rope butter. You will also receive a booklet with tested instructions on how to apply this butter during the conditioning process to your ropes. So, you have easy-to-follow step by step instructions to achieve the best possible results and end up with amazing ropes. The feel of a rope is crucial. Conditioning also improves the handling of the rope, reduces wear, and tends to reduce fibre loss. It also gives a lovely patina to the rope. The rope butter can be worked into a rope whenever needed e.g. after extensive use, or if it becomes dry. Dosage: For conditioning an 8m rope, we recommend using approximately 3g of butter (about a hazelnut-sized amount). 250 g of rope butter is therefore sufficient to condition roughly 80 pieces of 8m jute rope. Care well for your ropes and enjoy them for longer! Further detailed product safety and usage guidelines for our products can be found here.
